Hi there!

First of all, thank you for visiting my blog! I really hope you like what you see.

Secondly, while the posts you will find on Gypsified are generally a good reflection of who I am, here’s a quick introduction that will save you the effort of an in-depth online stalk (juuuuust kidding, I’m not that vain).

I’m a writer, based in the ever-so-fair coastal city of Cape Town, South Africa. Having grown up in the little seaside village of Betty’s Bay, I can’t quite imagine a life too far from the ocean.

While my journalistic career has served up a delightful variety of enjoyable jobs, I consider travel writing (where I cut my professional teeth) to be my first and great love. I have been very lucky to continue pursuing it on the side as the editor of Slow Drive, an independent travel magazine started up by Guillaume Marais (my other great love) in 2014.

I’m incurably curious, far too observant for my own good and always searching for an intriguing story. These are the driving forces behind this blog.

On a more personal level, I’m obsessed with second-hand book shops and would easily spend hours browsing through dusty shelves in search of literary gems. I have high standards when it comes to coffee, less so when it comes to wine – as long as my glass is nice and full, I’m happy!

Cute animals are my weakness and I’m always on the lookout for something fluffy to cry at or cuddle. My ideal life would involve much more time spent outdoors – climbing mountains, swimming in the sea, picnicking in forests, drinking from fresh streams, camping close to the beach – these are the things that fill my soul.

Last but not least, I’m a child of God on a journey of learning to love and be loved, instead of trying to theorise and understand.

My aim is to use this blog as a space to share interesting thoughts, pretty pictures, cool things people do and a little bit of joy.

Peace and love

Nadia
